After graduating from Padjadjaran University, he immediately dived into the world of lawyering until he decided to continue his studies at Tilburg Law School, the Netherlands until he graduated in 2018 and also actively participates in national and international forums.
Bunga Siagian’s career in lawyering began as a Project Basis Lawyer at Melli Darsa & Co, a well-known law firm in Jakarta. He feels lucky to have more than one year of experience actively participating in national and international corporate business transactions. He continued his career by joining as a Public Lawyer at LBH Jakarta.
“While at LBH Jakarta I learned to think critically and not to take it as it is,” said Bunga Siagian. There, Bunga Siagian succeeded in exploring his potential in actualizing the values of an advocate called Officium Nobile, namely providing legal assistance and advocacy for underprivileged and marginalized communities. Thanks to the principles he holds, her spiritual cult, and the upbringing of his parents, Bunga Siagian puts his heart into the human values achieved through his profession as an advocate and proves himself as an independent and responsible person.
After returning from the Netherlands, Bunga Siagian continued his advocate career as a Senior Associate Lawyer at Saor Siagian & Partners. Bunga Siagian has re-actualized his value to focus on corporate law and litigation, Bunga Siagian has proven that he is capable of becoming a professional advocate by handling various legal problems experienced by clients. Until finally he had the courage to tell his father and the owner of the office that he wanted to build his own office, Kartika & Rouly Law Firm.
At Kartika & Rouly Law Firm, Bunga Siagian and his partner Ricka Kartika Barus offer corporate and dispute resolution services with quality services based on the principles of integrity, respect, and trustworthy (IRT). Kartika & Rouly Law Firm also offers services in the field of technology and digital law, this shows that Kartika & Rouly Law Firm is able to adapt to the challenges of disruption in the industrial era 4.0. Bunga Siagian said, “Like it or not, you have to be able to adapt because adaptation is no longer an option. If we don’t adapt quickly, we will find it difficult to be able to keep up and take opportunities, if we adapt quickly we can quickly take opportunities.”
In addition, Bunga Siagian and Kartika & Rouly Law Firm also provide Pro Bono services to small communities as a form of actualizing the law firm’s vision and mission, which is oriented towards helping small communities in general. “Advocates really have to make an impact on society. It’s true, we need money to live, but also make sure we can channel life for others. That’s why there is an illustration of water in the Kartika & Rouly Law Firm logo, because water is a symbol of life,” continued Bunga Siagian.
In addition to being a Lawyer, Bunga Siagian is aware that he has values in academia, he has also established himself as a part-time lecturer in the International Business Law program at Prasetiya Mulya University, especially as a lecturer in criminal law. Bunga Siagian is able to become a teacher who innovates and is responsible, as seen by the mandate carried by him as the designer of the “Ethics for Legal Profession” curriculum for the Faculty of Business Law, Prasetiya Mulya University.
Intelligent, moral, and energetic are non-utopian traits that Bunga Siagian has in describing herself as a lawyer who has high values. It is this trait that according to the founding partner of Kartika & Rouly Law Firm, Ricka Kartika Barus, is very prominent as a ‘Bunga Siagian’. Furthermore, Ricka Kartika Barus said, ” Bunga Siagian can work not only smartly, but with excellence and can significantly work on all the problems that his clients have with a different legal framework, namely solving a problem intelligently, well prepared, and right on target.”
In the era of disruption, it is undeniable that Bunga Siagian is able to represent law in academic value online through the Legalaccess.id platform. Realizing that he is part of the agent of change, Bunga Siagian dares to step out of the mainstream zone by changing his mindset that technology is an effective and efficient medium for the legal world. Being the Co-Founder of the Legalaccess.id platform, Bunga Siagian hopes that there will be no more distance between education and knowledge between regions and between campuses, especially in legal science.
Bunga Siagian is aware that in understanding law and regulation as a whole, it is necessary to take advantage of the role of technology as a medium to adapt to real legal fluctuations. Bunga Siagian hopes that every law office is able to master and implement the essence of technology in providing effective, efficient, and quality services for clients. Even for young women, Bunga Siagian hopes that women who have dreams of becoming advocates will not be afraid of practical risks in front of their eyes, but dare to take risks accompanied by knowledge, effort, and prayer to make it happen because basically life is veviere pericoloso.
